March is here, Spring is right around the corner and the cats of Steamboat are ready to pounce!
This month we are focused on our feline family members! Though cats can be known for their independent life-styles, it is very important to remember to bring them into the vet for their regular visits and vaccines!

- Cats are masters at hiding illness.
Going to the vet does not need to be that stressful!
- Understand your cats behavior. They are used to familiarity and need time to adjust to new surroundings. It is common for a cat to dislike the carrier, though it is the safest way to travel with them. To help them feel more comfortable, leave the carrier out and open in the house and allow your cat to smell it and lay inside it. We recommend leaving it around where they sleep or use their litterbox. Remember to remain calm and avoid frustration or anxiety as it can make them feel anxious and can become more fearful.
- Pet Kare Clinic is a cat friendly practice. We have made changes to our clinic to help decrease stress and provide a more calming environment to your cats. We have certain areas and a special exam room just for cats. We are trained in certain handling techniques and recognizing signs of fear and anxiety, helping us adapt to your cat and their needs.
- We also provide housecall visits to assist with anxiety and stress. House visits are beneficial because we can observe your cat in their familiar environment. If you’re interested in this service, please inform us in advance, as we will need to coordinate based on the doctor’s availability.
