Avian, Reptile, Pocket Pets
Pet Kare Clinic is the leader in the valley for advanced reptile, avian and small mammal medicine and surgery. Exotics are no exception to our progressive practice as we honor all creatures equally whether they are finned, winged, scaled or furry.
The great majority of illnesses we see in exotic pets are direct results of poor husbandry. Poor husbandry happens because owners are often misinformed about proper care for their pets by pet stores, hobbyists, or the internet. Others assume their home care is good because they haven’t had a problem yet. Therefore, the best preventative step you can take is to bring your new exotic pet in for a general exam and consultation about proper husbandry and care.
Links to some good husbandry sites we’ve found:
- Anapsid.org – a great resource for most husbandry related information concerning scaled creatures. Take some time here before buying that herp for sale.
- GRARE (Georgia Reptile and Amphibian Rescue Effort) – Sound yet Brief Animal Care Sheets for many herp species.
