Darcie is an incredibly sweet 8-year-old Welsh Corgi who is well known to us here at PKC. What was originally diagnosed as a urinary infection, quickly became a bigger issue when she urinated out a large stone! We took radiographs which revealed a bladder full of bladder stones. She was scheduled for surgery right away. Dr. Samantha
performed a cystotomy, which is the medical term for making a surgical incision into the bladder, and removed the stones. Darcie went home the next day a much happier pup! Her stones were sent to a lab for analysis which will help us determine why they formed. From now on, she will be on a prescription diet that will help prevent the stones from forming again.
